|A view of the Arts & Crafts facade at Chez Panisse before the fire|
There’s a new update on the reopening of the fire-ravaged Chez Panisse and isn’t good. Over the weekend, construction crews assessed the damaged at Alice Waters' famous Berkeley restaurant, which initially was thought to have been restricted to the front porch and façade. Inside Scoop is now reporting that the damage is far worse and will require “a more significant demolition project”. The top and bottom porches need to be removed and structural repairs will need to be made in both the upstairs and downstairs dining room. All of this means that the latest projected reopening date, April 15, won’t be happening. Read more about the saga here.
