Celebrate the Persian New Year at Zaré at Fly Trap Tomorrow

The haft-shin at Zaré Fly Trap
There are still some reservations lefts for tomorrow’s Persian New Year’s dinner at Hoss Zare’s Zaré Fly Trap but there won’t be for long. The Norooz dinner that marks the traditional Iranian 13-day celebration of the spring will feature a seven-course dinner inspired by the seven elements of the haft-sin, the symbolic foods on the ceremonial table that represent rebirth in the spiritual and material world in the new year. Special holiday dishes that are believed to bring wealthy and beauty include smoked potato coins with poached lobster and black caviar, duck egg brulee with scrambled eggs, uni and black garlic, lamb two-ways and a dessert course featuring chocolate-orange truffles, pistachio goat cheesecake and saffron ice cream. The one-and-only gregarious host Hoss Zare will be courting guests in the dining room to explain the significance of the different dishes and a live musician will be playing Persian Flamenco guitar to set the ambiance for the occasion.

(March 19, $140 per person, with optional $70 wine parings featuring Chateau Muscar, 606 Folsom St, to reserve call 415-2430-0580 or book online).
