So rarely do you eat out in New York City and leave full, not broke and duly impressed with what you've just tasted. Such was the case with our recent meal at Pearl & Ash, a newcomer on the South Bowery from Frej/Corton alum Richard Kuo. The menu here is stacked with innovative plates that meld bold flavors and textures together. Savory forbidden rice krispie treats? Enough said. Our favorite dish of the night (if we had to pick) would be the hanger steak tartare with melba wafers, cocoa nibs and egg sauce. This creative spin on the traditional steak tartare seamlessly incorporated an ingredient as seemingly disharmonious as cocoa nibs without taking the dish too far off course from its classical flavors. Also, the wine program here is out of control. Ok, we'll stop gushing, but seriously, you've gotta check this place out.
