Ben Revere Eats at Green Eggs Cafe, Begins Restoring Philly Food Cred

It’s been a rough beginning for new Phillies outfielder Ben Revere. It’s not that he hasn’t been great on the field - he has. But food-wise, his intro has been bumpy. It started when he posted a photo of his “first Philly cheesesteak” at Chickie & Pete’s, but it was a lobster cheesesteak, not a real one.

Then, just this week, the former Minnesota Twin told a newscaster he was looking forward to eating a Philadelphia cheeseCAKE (instead of cheesesteak), twice. He later acknowledged his error on Twitter, and also noted his brand new apartment was just a mile away from the Pat’s and Geno’s corner.

This morning he decided to put it to the public where to grab breakfast before the first Citizens Bank Park preview game of the season tonight. He ended up at Green Eggs Cafe, a totally solid choice and a favorite among the Philadelphia food crowd.

We’re not certain which of the three locations he hit - no employees at any of the cafes noticed him - but word is Chase Utley eats at the Midtown Village outpost often. Plus, that branch is also exactly a mile away from Pats's and Geno's, so we’re pegging him as having gone to 13th Street.

What did Ben Revere eat? Since no one noticed he was there, we can’t be certain of the full meal, but one thing is sure: he had grits. “Them grits were on point!” the Atlanta, GA native tweeted.
