Barraca's Jesus Nunez Will Open Melibea in the West Village

After the fits and starts of his UWS restaurant Gastroarte, chef Jesús Nuñez found a suitable perch at Barraca in the West Village, and now he's ready to expand his offerings in that area with the launch of Melibea. The Mediterranean eatery is located right next door to Barraca - it's opening next Thursday and will feature menu items like salmon and scallop carpaccio with tomato ice cream and tapenade (the chef has has a modernist background but those techniques don't get to shine at his neighboring tapas joint). The space is decked out like an antique theater in Barcelona and the name comes from La Celestina, a 15th century play that features an actress of the same name.
