Baker & Nosh
By Sarah Freeman
There are few things more heartwarming than the smell of freshly baked bread, except maybe the smell of freshly baked cupcakes. The opening of two new bakeries in Chicago (Senza Bakery and Sauce & Bread Kitchen) had us craving a carb overload with a sugar-rush chaser. From traditional French croissants to childhood favorites such as Twinkies, the sweet offerings are sure to satisfy. So put on the fat pants, and take a tour of a baker's dozen (that's 13) bakeries.

  1. Where is Kolatek's Bakery? 40 types of Artisan Breads. What's up?

  3. I would add Kirschbaum's in Western Springs and the Busy Bee in Downers Grove. I grew up eating bread from Kirschbaum's, and I love their coffee cakes.

Busy Bee has a behive cake that is absolutely delicious, and their creme-filled donuts are filled to the point that they almost explode with the first bite.
