Weekender: Tuscan Wine Dinner, Cooking Class & Wine Expo on Tap

Tavolo in Dorchester

Friday night, head to the ‘burbs where Tomasso Trattoria in Southborough will be welcoming winemaker Alfonso Sada from his family’s Tuscan vineyards. The evening will include a five-course meal paired with the special wines, and Sada will be on hand to sip and discuss what it’s all about (6:30 PM; $100 per person, excluding tax and gratuity; 508-481-8484).

If you’re still looking for romance this weekend, Tavolo in Dorchester has a special invitation for you - take your sweetheart to a cooking class, where you learn how to make beet ravioli, rack of lamb and a few sides. Then kick back for some cooking tips and demo by chef Nuno Alves and enjoy a lunch after that (noon-2 PM; $120 per couple; reservations required; 617-822-1918). Stick around for an early dinner and you’ll get the cool sounds of local guitarist Ryan Beke (6-9 PM).

Don’t forget this weekend marks the very popular Boston Wine Expo at the Seaport World Trade Center, where guests get to taste wines from 185 wineries from around the world. Chef demos, restaurant and food samplings, and a social media lounge are all part of this year’s fun. The Sunday Grand Tasting is $85.
