Rare beer alert: Only 10 kegs of Bell’s Captain Spontaneous are circulating around Chicago. One of those kegs will be tapped on Friday along with Smitten, Hopslam and Two Hearted Ale. Rob England from the brewery will be at Tuman’s Tap & Grill to answer questions about the beer and clink glasses with fans (773-782-1400).
Chinese New Year
Friday, Koi in Evanston will host a traditional Chinese Lion Dancer and serve a special a la carte menu of symbolic dishes. Throughout the weekend, you can order a "Good Luck Menu" with dishes such as seafood pan-fried noodles (847-866-6969).
Paczki - the traditional Polish doughnut - made boozy with vodka and vanilla bean custard, Patron XO Cocoa with chocolate custard, and orange liqueur and passion fruit jelly. Sound tasty? Buy six and get one free (including less alcoholic varieties) this weekend at Delightful Pastries during Chicago French Market’s Eurofest (312-575-0306).
For those who can't get enough deep-fried dough, make them at Delightful Pastries' paczki cooking class on Sunday at 2 PM. Learn the art of frying, glazing, filling and, most importantly, eating this Fat Tuesday staple. The class costs $50 per student (773-545-7215).
Love is in the air, so here are a few things we love: Bang Bang Pie, Letherbee gin, Dark Matter Coffee and Reno bagels. A few of our favorite things are making appearance during Sunday’s Dose Market at the River East Art Center. Tickets cost $10 (312-321-1001).
