Tuesday Night Chef Tasting Dinners at Monsú - That’s Enough!

The chef will cook for you, and that's enough!
Did you know about Monsú’s new Tuesday night tasting menu? It took us by surprise, too, but last night was the first in what will become a weekly event at the Italian Market BYO. Each Tuesday, chef-owner Peter McAndrews will be in the house, whipping up seven-course “Sicilian turista” dinner for $50 per person.

There’s no telling what will be served on any given week, but the one constant will be the chef himself - the event is dubbed “Peter - Basta Cosi!” (Translation: “Peter - That’s Enough!”) Anyone who’s had a chance to sample McAndrews’ Italian classics at Modomio or try his brilliant sandwich combos at Paesano’s knows this guy can cook.

The menu we glimpsed does have one quirk. A note explains there are “alternatives for women” available for the meal. A rep explained this is a nod to squeamish eaters who might not wish to have tripe as part of their melanzane (eggplant) rollatini, for example.

We’re skeptical it’s only females who have these reservations, but other than that, the Basta Cosi sounds like a must-hit meal. Bonus for industry folks: Monsú will knock $10 off the price of your feast. As word spreads, the small space will fill up fast, so be sure to make reservations when you are ready to try it out (215-440-0495).
