The Best Thing We Drank Last Night: Last Word at Found

Apparently we missed a notable cocktail during our mission to find the best suburban sips. Recently opened Found in Evanston not only has a menu of creative concoctions, but the perfect atmosphere to enjoy them in. Exposed brick walls, tables lit with wax-covered candelabras and a library lined with books and other worldly tchotchkes were comfortable without being cliché. No, there was nothing “speakeasy-style” about this place, but when we were handed a gold-rimmed coupe filled with “The Last Word on Found,” we couldn’t help but feel like we had slipped back a few decades.

It was made with gin, chartreuse, lime and blackberry liqueur rather than traditional maraschino. The cocktail had a good balance of booziness and citrus flavor. In addition to being served in stunning glassware, the deep red liquor that sat on the bottom was striking against the yellow at the top. The flavors at the beginning were bright, but once we drank to the bottom we were rewarded with sweet blackberry - like feasting on dinner and then dessert. This cocktail evolved with each sip, and was so tasty we opted for seconds (847-868-8945).
