Swissbakers Opens Flagship Location in Allston
Swissbäkers, a European-style bakery based in Reading, is opening a larger, second store today. The new expansive cafe bakery takes up 14,000 sq. ft., creating a new flagship location in Allston with a commissary. The grand opening is 5-8 PM, with normal business hours kicking in tomorrow.
Rene Stählin, a designer from Zurich, Switzerland, created a sleek space that seats about 100. The bakery serves coffee and baked goods - breads, croissants, pretzels, cookies, cakes, tartes - throughout the day, and offers lunch items including quiches and sandwiches beginning at 11 AM. Private dining and catering are available.
In the warmer months a patio will seat 40 and there’ll be an outdoor playground for kids and families. The bakery’s iconic red cow statue will soon be installed.
Swissbäkers is a family operation, with founders Helene and Thomas Stohr at the helm. They opened their first location in the Reading train station two years ago.
Swissbakers in Allston is open Monday through Friday, 5:30 AM-6:30 PM; Saturday, 7 AM-6:30 PM; and Sunday, 7 AM-5 PM.
