Street Food Philly Brings Beer to a Food Truck

Actually, it’s more like the other way around, since every Saturday, Street Food Philly has been posting up at Yards Brewery on Delaware Avenue, offering visitors to the tasting room a variety of eclectic eats to go with the local brew. But partners Carolyn Nguyen and Michael Sultan are getting beer into their food too.

This weekend you’ll find it in the Yards Love Stout chili, a hearty three-bean stew that complements the chocolate in the beer with dark chocolate and cumin in the broth. It’s available with a side of jalapeno cornbread for $7, or on top of the dry-aged burger with onion rings and chipotle BBQ sauce for $10.

It’s not the first time suds have found their way into the locally sourced, globally inspired cuisine on the bright green truck: Yards Pale Ale was the basis of a Hollandaise sauce for an earlier dish, and Yards root beer was used to cure the bacon that once topped the burger. The Street Food Philly menu changes often, and the proprietors are always looking for suggestions, so if you have an idea of how the pair can use brew, be sure to let them know.
