The Strong Buzz gets word that Governor in Dumbo has scuttled plans to rebuild after sustaining major damage during Hurricane Sandy. The eatery was completely flooded and would have taken months to get back up and running, but the team quickly vowed to reopen, raising money at special guest-chef dinners and via social media.
The word is that the team realized that the build out was just too expensive, even though they were able to raise tens of thousands of dollars through their fundraising efforts. In other sad news, chef Brad McDonald has left the restaurant group (they also own Colonie and Gran Electrica). The split is reportedly amicable and he'll be spending time with his children, one of whom was born shortly after the restaurant opened.
