Sequester Specials Try to Take the Bite Out of Furloughs

Daily Dish

As Federal Government workers face potential one day a week furloughs (and 20% pay cuts), if the automatic spending cuts kick in tomorrow, area restaurants are gearing up with Sequester specials. First up is the Daily Dish, a Silver Spring American bistro, that hopes to entice furloughed employees to eat and drink their frustrations away, by offering a 20% discount on food at weekday lunch. Locally sourced comfort food like Amish roast chicken, seafood, hearth-oven pizzas and salads, washed down with wine beer and strong drink, should help pass the time until the next workday.

Look out for lots more of these deals, if the Sequester happens, as restaurants and bars try to ameliorate the impact of the budget cuts on the area economy and their bottom line (8301 Grubb Rd.; Silver Spring, MD; 301-588-6300).
