Seattle's Caffe Vita Now Brewing in Silver Lake

We've been watching this space slowly morph from a graffiti-tagged building into the first Los Angeles location of Seattle's popular Caffe Vita. There was a small preview "open house" this weekend, but it's open today. Caffe Vita hasn't been around as long as Starbucks, but it is a part of the third wave coffee movement sourcing coffee beans directly from farmers in Guatemala, Brazil, Ethiopia, Panama and Sumatra, and roasting it in their own Seattle facility.

While we have a lot of local roasters popping up around the LA scene these days (Caffe Luxxe, Intelligentsia, Handsome), we're still getting a lot of coffee from outsiders, including another Northwest favorite, Stumptown, which is becoming more and more available around town. According to Eater, Caffe Vita will have its own brews plus some food, and beans and merchandise for sale. We hear on the Facebook that there might be some free coffee today if you stop in, too, so do (4459 W. Sunset Blvd.).
