Saison Changes Lounge Menu (Again)

Seems like Joshua Skenes is still figuring out just how accessible he can or wants to make his new $248 a head tasting-menu temple Saison. Just last week, he announced that he’d be offering a more manageable $48 canapĂ© tasting menu in the salon/lounge. No longer. Skenes has hit the reboot button again and tells the Inside Scoop that he’s scrapped that idea in favor of a more improvisational option in which “a guest comes in, we start a conversation and we write a menu spontaneously.” The new spontaneous salon won’t have the rigidity of a specific number of courses or price tag (it'll depend on the ingredients available or dishes desired), but the minimum price will be around $88 a person.

Ok, so it’s not exactly the low, low introductory price of $48, but if you don’t want to spring for full dining room tasting menu, we suggest you get in there before they tweak it again. Note: The menu isn't the only thing that's in flux at Saison. The restaurant hasn't yet received its liquor license, so Mark Bright's much-touted cocktail program is currently on hold; until then, the only drink options are beer, wine and lower proof cocktails.
