Rybread’s New Location Will Feature Beer and Carousel Seating

After two years, Fairmount sandwich shop Rybread is expanding to a second location, at 28th and Girard in slowly gentrifying Brewerytown. The new shop will feature the same clean-edged design and made-to-order sandwiches as the original, according to proprietor Ryan Pollock, but will have two new features: beer and more seating.

Brews will be available in bottles to go or to enjoy on site, easier to do since the new cafe will have more than twice the seating area. The space was previously used as Next City’s Storefront for Urban Innovation, but was once a toy shop, and there are plans to incorporate the carousel platform that sits at the front of the room into the design.

Hearty BLTs, melty paninis, fresh-baked brownies and beer at a rotating table with a view of the street? The neighborhood is sure to love the addition, and it might just be enough to pull Center City crowds out of their comfort zone, too.
