P.J. Hanley's, Brooklyn's Oldest Bar, Files For Bankruptcy

The taps at P.J. Hanley's in Brooklyn have been flowing since 1874, but Brooklyn's oldest bar may soon have to close up shop - say it ain't so! Crain's has word that the storied pub (which allegedly served Mr. Al Capone himself back in the day) has filed for bankruptcy protection. The report says that the watering hole is on the hook for $100-$500K in back debts, and the owners cite a dispute with a landlord and rising prices as the reason for the hard times.

The venue remains open for now, and instead of closing the owners are looking for a buyer. Our suggestion: can Keith McNally please come along and Minetta Tavern this place?
