| Smoked trout roll, a Persimmon favorite |
Persimmon, the well-regarded Bethesda New American, reopened last weekend after a total renovation. In its new configuration, the rooms are bigger, and there are booths opposite the granite bar. White walls, a skylight and larger front windows give it a brighter look. Colorful canvases of fruits and vegetables, like those at its sister restaurant, Wild Tomato, are the major decorative feature. Still the new look is not yet complete - we’re told more color pops are on the way.
The new menu reflects its more relaxed, bistro focus. Familiar favorites like smoked trout spring rolls and pecan-crusted barbecue lamb are still offered, but so are sandwiches, salads, soups and appetizers like those at Wild Tomato, along with some new entrees (7003 Wisconsin Ave. 301-654-9860).
