On Tap: Beer News From Pipeworks, Arcade and Dryhop Breweries

Coming soon: Dryhop restaurant and brewery
At last, we have some beer news not related to another brewer leaving Goose Island. The Bucktown brewery, Pipworks, took high honors this weekend on RateBeer. The year-old-establishment was named best new brewery by the popular beer rating website. It competed against nearly 2,000 other breweries, according to DNA Info.

If you can't open a bar or brewery, consider doing the next best thing by creating a custom beer. Arcade Brewery is making that tipsy bro fantasy a reality with its first “Public Brew.” Today is the last day to enter names for a crowdsourced scotch ale. Suggestions are accepted on its Facebook page until midnight. Once a name is selected, they will launch a label design contest with a $300 prize.

Dryhop, a new gasto-brewery opening in Lakeview, was scheduled to open in March. Due to construction delays the opening will be postponed until May, but it promises to open before summer. In the meantime, head brewer Brant Dubovick is working on a Belgo-IPA with Lake Effect Brewing that will be ready in early February as well as another collaborative beer with Atlas Brewing Company.
