Hakkasan won't be the only Asian import to come to NYC via London. The team behind Zuma just announced plans to open an outpost of that eatery on Madison Avenue a few blocks south of Grand Central. This will be the seventh location worldwide - the brand has locations of it's casual-but-hip izakaya concept in destinations as far reaching as Bangkok, Dubai and Istanbul. This will actually be Zuma's second U.S. location, as they already serve shareable dishes fresh off their robata grill in Miami. The NYC locale will have three areas dispensing food - a sushi counter, a regular kitchen and the aforementioned grill.
We hear that this may be the first of a few new American outposts, and the others have developed a good reputation for the quality of food as well as the vibe - the London location received a 27 in our last restaurant survey there, while the Miami haunt scored an even more impressive 28. We'll see if NYC diners will be similarly impressed when this venture opens in early 2014 (261 Madison Ave.).
