José Andrés Unveils barmini - A Cocktail Destination

Barmini, debuting last night, is José Andrés’ latest avant garde concept. It’s a craft cocktail boite that’s the flip side (literally) of his gastronomic tour-de-force, Minibar. At barmini, chef-driven libations get whimsical and inventive twists, using state-of-the-art technology. Physically, they are in adjoining rooms, in the same Penn Quarter space, with a window allowing patrons to watch the action on the other side.
Patrons seated at the bar, or in colorful pods, can order reimagined classics and neuvo inspirations served up in vintage glassware. Snacks include a reinterpreted Spanish ham and cheese sandwich, or a Philly cheesesteak. The setting is dazzling - white on white with vibrant accents. Hands reach out of the walls offering fresh fruits. There's also a garden swing and a cactus-inspired couch (more comfy than it sounds). Behind the bar are mad scientist contraptions and vintage treasures. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 6 PM-1 AM (until 2 AM on Fridays and Saturdays).
