first meal in Philadelphia. This week we reached out to Nicolas Fanucci, the French-born Thomas Keller alum who is responsible for the rebirth of fine-dining mainstay Le Bec Fin.
Zagat: You have friends visiting from France who have never been to Philadelphia before. Where do you take them for their first meal in Philly, and what do you suggest they try there?
Nicolas Fanucci: To experience the classic Philly cheesesteak, first I take my visitors to Tony Luke's on Oregon Avenue. After that, we must go to Bibou for the bone marrow and then Zama for sushi. While out on the Main Line, showing my visitors where I live, we would stop at Alba for the pasta carbonara.
Inevitably, at least one of the nights of the visit would end at Hop Sing Laundromat for the Cognac Water cocktail. I absolutely love sharing Philly's great food scene with my friends and family.
