Coffee Talk With Huckleberry's Zoe Nathan

We're checking in with some of our most caffeinated culinarians for Coffee Week to see when, where and what they're drinking. Kogi's Roy Choi, Bludso's Bar & Que's Jason Bernstein, and Bar Ama's Josef Centeno have all given us a cupful, and now we have pastry chef Zoe Nathan, who, between kids, writing a cookbook and running four restaurants (Huckleberry, Rustic Canyon, Milo + Olive and Sweet Rose Creamery), definitely needs some rocket fuel now and again.

When do you have your first cup of coffee every day?
I usually have my first cup of coffee at some point in the morning, when it finally hits me how little I’ve slept and how early I woke up and when I know I’m really tired.

What do you drink (espresso, cappuccino, latte, etc.)?
I drink a whole milk latte and occasionally a shot of espresso.

Coffee shop or at home?
If out, where and why? – Usually I’m at work when drinking coffee, so I’ll get it at Huckleberry or Milo & Olive.

How many cups to you drink a day?
Depending on how long my day is supposed to be, anywhere from one to three.

What's your favorite brand?
I love Verve coffee.

Coffee goes best with... a chocolate chip cookie.
