While it wasn't exactly last night (more like over the weekend), we once again made a brief jaunt to Philly (the sixth borough) for a three-day culinary pitstop. Among the restaurants we visited, we happened among the charming husband-and-wife-run gastropub Blind Pig, in Northern Liberties. The laid-back bar/eatery serves up a variety of plates and some daily specials along with an impressive selection of both canned craft beers. You can almost always find their alligator sausage sandwich on the specials list - and while it's not straight-up gator (there's some pork in the mix as well), its light texture and subtle yet sweet flavor makes it likely the most memorable use of the reptilian meat that you'll ever taste. It's topped with spicy mustard, tomatoes, onions and lettuce and served on a hoagie-style roll. Blind Pig is located at 702 N. 2nd Street in Philadelphia.
