Weekend Planner: Beer, Video Games and The Return of Dirty Dancing

Beer Nerds
When two great forces come together in a bar filled with video games, good times are sure to ensue, or  bring about the apocalypse. Solemn Oath Brewery and Lagunitas are combining their beer brewing power for an epic tap takeover tonight at Emporium. (773-697-7922).

Greek Wine
The temperature may be dropping to something between frigid and miserable, but ease the pain by drinking up a bit of the Greek Isles on Friday night at 2 Sparrows. A five-course dinner, paired with Greek wines, includes dishes such as lamb with wild mushrooms, cous cous and chickpeas. Tickets cost $70. (773-234-2320).

Dance at the Dolphin
Popular jazz club, Green Dolphin, which was forced to close a year ago due to violence and scandal, will reopen on Friday. They have dropped the “green” as well as the dining and jazz aspects of the club in favor of a more traditional nightclub with DJs and theme nights. Their grand opening party kicks off at 9 PM with eltronic duo The Crystal Method. Tickets cost $10 in advance or $20 at the door. (773-750-8090).

Back to Market
As the last of the pickled produce is consumed and our pantries are depressingly bare, Green City Market comes to the rescue. After their holiday hiatus, the winter market is back at the Peggy Notebaert Museum on Saturday. Shop for winter greens, local meat and pre-made treats. (773-755-5100).
