Ainsworth Park just opened in the space near Union Square that used to house Japanese eatery Kibo and (perhaps in the spirit of the competition on the screens) there's a upscale-sports-bar smackdown a brewin'. The Royal just opened on the Square's south side, and they're also trying to class up game day. The space contains 43 televisions, which are hung on walls made of wood repurposed from a barn in Western Pennsylvania (we wonder if Steelers fans will be subconsciously drawn to the space).
The food was done by chef Daniel Parilla, who works as the executive sous chef at Minetta Tavern. Many of the grub offerings are designed to share, and there are plenty of classics like a burger with pickles and a housemade secret sauce. There's also a gluten free mac 'n' cheese made with brown rice penne and topped with aged Parmesean gratin. Note to Ainsworth: game on (127 4th Ave.; 212-260-1146).
