This Week's Food-World Winners and Losers
From coffee coups to Subway snafus, check out this week's food-world winners and losers below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
Winner - Patrick Dempsey
Kudos to actor Patrick Dempsey aka "McDreamy" for outbidding mega chain Starbucks to buy West Coast coffee chain Tully's on Friday for an estimated $9.15 Mil, inspiring countless other struggling millionaire actors out there to keep their eye on the prize.
Loser - Fired Subway Employee Who Threatened to Kill Customer Over Ketchup
Florida Subway employee Lawrence Ordone flew off the handle when a customer demanded ketchup on his Philly cheesesteak, threatening to kill the man who ordered it, Luis Martinez. Ordone was fired as a result of the ordeal, thankfully just before the chain dipped into the sriracha game.
Winner - Starbucks Drinkers/The Earth
Starbucks rolled out cheap reusable cups at all of its stores nationwide this week, available for only $1. Bonus perk: Starbucks staff will even wash the cup for you. Because saving the planet is that much easier when laziness is part of the bribe.
Loser - Tampa, Florida residents who hate Hulk Hogan
Looks like Hulk haters in Tampa are SOL, the famed wrestler's new eatery Hogan's Beach had its grand opening on New Year's Eve.
Winner - Doritos Locos Fans
This week, Taco Bell teased out the imminent arrival of its Cool Ranch Doritos Locos Taco inciting sheer hysteria among the Taco Bell-obsessed public. The question remains however - will Cool Ranch go on to outsell the original (already the biggest selling item in Taco Bell history)?
