The lineup of 120 participating restaurants was announced yesterday for Baconfest – a hog-filled pork-a-palooza. General admission tickets ($100) do not go on sale until February 20 for the April 20 event, but VIP tickets ($200) for the lunch and dinner shifts are on sale now.
The Haunted Horse is coming and there is nothing scary about it. It’s a new collaborative beer between Philadelphia's Alla Spina and Victory Brewing Company. It will be served at The Publican on January 24 during a four-course dinner by the team from both restaurants. Tickets cost $65. (312-733-9555).
Take a trip to the Islands of Japan, a culinary journey, in the form of Sushisamba Rio’s new Omakase series. A month of eight-course dinners will visit the four regions of Japan: January 18, Hiroshima; January 25, Akita; February 1, Nagano; and February 8, Nigata. Tickets cost $125. (312-595-2300).
The mystery dinner is back for a second round on January 30 at Frontier. The five-course meal is like Russian roulette for foodies with chef Brian Jupiter serving a selection of unknown lamb meat to brave guests.
