The Best Thing We Ate Last Night: Duck Egg at Prospect

Recent Fort Greene arrival Prospect has so far impressed locals with an ambitious, upscale New American menu. While the obligatory pork belly, Brussels sprouts and burger make appearances and are known to please, last night we were more captivated by the slow-cooked duck egg, nestled in bed of frisée, fricassee of mushrooms, brown butter croutons and white vinegar. The richness and creaminess of the egg worked well with the acid from the vinegar to meld the flavors and the earthiness of the mushrooms, while the croutons added a pleasant crunch. While it's still more common to see eggs on morning menus, we don't see why you can't have breakfast for dinner more often ($13; 718-596-6826).
