There was some sad news this weekend for Windy City pizza lovers.
Crain's reported that
Great Lake, which scored a crazy-good 27 in our
2012/13 Chicago Restaurants survey, will close at the end of the month. The joint is widely praised for having some of the best pies in town (if not in the country), but the owners are set to close up shop after a decision not to renew the lease.
Details are spotty at this point, with the building owner saying that the duo behind the restaurant is planning to move, and sources saying the pizza slingers are unhappy with the state of the building. No word yet on whether the restaurant will try to relocate, but we think we speak for a lot of Chicago when we say we sure hope so.
