Save the Date: National Waiters Day

Waiting tables has a reputation as a stopgap job here in the UK but this year, Fred Sirieix, restaurant service expert and general manager of Galvin at Windows, is hoping to change that with a new initiative.

National Waiters Day - taking place on June 23 - is a day to celebrate the hard working wait staff around the country for their dedication and discipline, as well as inspire people about careers in the hospitality industry. Full details are yet to be finalised, but we hear The Ritz is taking part with a day of demonstrations showing off front of house skills like how to carve a chicken, cooking a crêpe Suzette and preparing a steak tartar at the table. Galvin at Windows also has a day of talks and demonstrations lined up as well as a lunch and dinner servings where the tables are turned thanks to celebrities working as wait staff.
