Golden Sate of Cocktails kick-off party held at the Los Angeles Times building. The three-day event, which officially debuts Jan. 26-28, 2014, will be LA's premiere boozy bash with a slew of parties, happy hours, tastings and interactive classes hosted by the top cocktailians from LA, San Francisco and San Diego. With people like Neat's Aidan Demerest, 213 Nightlife's Cedd Moses, Eric Alperin from Varnish, Alex Day and Dave Kaplan from Proprietors LLC (and NYC's Death & Co.) among the long list of board members, you get the idea - artisanal spirits, classic cocktails, very serious drinks.
To showcase what's in store, there were several drink stations set around the top floor of the building with views of the Disney Concert Hall, City Hall and the LA skyline. While we spent an inordinate amount of time sipping perfect Old Fashioneds at Alperin's bar, our favorite moment was mixing a Preakness in a plastic beaker and then getting to take it home for later. The other side of our tag reads "Break In Case of Emergency." We're surprised it's lasted this long.
