Juicy Lucy, another new restaurant now open at the fancy food court at TASTE Figat7th (a.k.a, the new City Target). Shoemaker served a mean burger at his Malibu restaurant Savory until things got sticky with the landlord and the former Bastide chef was forced to close a few months ago. But that just gave him more time to focus on his new burger concept, which officially debuts just in time for lunch on Tuesday, January 8, but if you walk by now, you'll probably see some workers, smell grilling meat and can probably score a burger during this "soft" phase.
In addition to Juicy Lucy, Oleego, the new Korean spot from Park's BBQ, is slated to open on Friday (Jan. 4), and Indus, which brings fast-casual Indian cuisine from chef Bhupender Singh, should open on Monday (Jan. 7). After that, there's still Loteria Grill, Sprinkles Cupcakes and Mendocino Farms (the third for Downtown) on deck to open this year. And two new concepts, Flying Pig, the former food truck now Little Tokyo brick-and-mortar cafe, and The Pizza Studio, another customizable pizza spot a la 800 Degrees and PizzaRev, just signed on to open sometime in 2013.
A few weeks ago, The Melt began serving grilled cheese and soup, and George's Greek Grill debuted. Are you more excited for these chef-driven restaurants hitting Downtown or being able to shop at a new Target?
