Oyster Hour at Hillside, Guest-Chef Series at Reynards

Hillside, a new vino bar from the folks behind neighboring Vinegar Hill House, made our list of must-try new wine bars last week. The casual haunt has an eclectic wine selection and on February 5 they'll kick off a happy hour of sorts to lure you in early. From 5:30 to 7:30 PM on Sunday - Thursday nights (excluding Monday 'cause they're closed), the bar will host a promotion dubbed Oyster Hours. You can enjoy half a dozen oysters and a draft beer or glass of white wine for only $10. Call this an appetizer, and then go next door for dinner (718-522-7957).

In other Brooklyn news, Reynard in Williamsburg is planning to host a series of guest-chef dinners starting on January 30. Each month, Andrew Tarlow will invite some like-minded culinary souls into town to cook in the kitchen for three nights. First up will be Andrew Marini from Scribe Winery in Napa, who will be joined by winemaker Chris Fischer of Beetlebung Farm in Martha's Vineyard. Dinners start at 8 PM in the private dining room and only 50 tickets are available each night, at $125 each. Call 718-460-8004 for reservations.
