OCF Coffee House
On January 1, the large space on the corner of 21st and Fairmount that was formerly home to Mugshots officially relaunched as OCF Coffee House. The outpost is the third branch of the cafes run by OCF Realty, joining locations on South Street West (they call it Graduate Hospital) and in Point Breeze. This one will be the first to serve a full breakfast and lunch menu, according to The Insider, and will even provide Bloody Mary and mimosa mixes for BYO brunch drinks (2100 Fairmount St.; 267-773-8081).
Southern Cross Kitchen
Out in Conshohocken, Southern Cross Kitchen is now serving a “cross between down-home Southern classics and modern comfort food,” according to a restaurant rep. The new neighborhooder is the latest venture from Marianne Gere and Kim Strengari, who also own Stella Blu and Gypsy Saloon across the bridge in West Conshohocken. Look for dishes like fried green tomatoes, shrimp ’n’ grits, blackened catfish and baby back ribs. Lunch and dinner are served seven days a week, in addition to brunch on Sundays (8 E. 1st Ave., Conshohocken; 484-344-5668).
A bit later this month, Mt. Airy will see a revival of the former Goat Hollow Tavern, which served the neighborhood for 17 years, shuttering in 2004. The new incarnation from Mt. Airy dwellers Neli Campbell (owner of Old City’s Race Street Cafe) and partner Andy Shahan will drop the “Tavern” moniker and become an American brasserie. A revamp of the interior will update the look with a welcoming atmosphere that features a large craft beer list, artisan cocktails and rustic food. Eats will be executed by Adam Glickman, who previously cooked at Center City’s Monk’s Cafe. Look for lunch and dinner daily, as well as a special late-night menu and weekend brunch (300 W. Mt.
