Mr Selfridge Menu Launches

Mr Selfridge - the new ITV show about the history of the London department store - reminds us there is more to do in a shop than just buy stuff.

Until the end of March, foodies should make their way to the Oxford Street institution to sample the newly launched menu in The Tasting Room on the second floor which features dishes "taken from a celebratory dinner held in honour of Mr H. Gordon Selfridge himself, when the store opened in the 1900s." Go back in time to try Gruyere croquettes with grain mustard, apple and mustard leaf or lamb cutlets with pommes Anna, capers, mint and pancetta. There will also be cocktails like The White Lady (gin, cointreau, fresh lemon juice and egg white) and The Maple Leaf (whiskey, maple syrup, and fresh lemon juice) to wash it all down. Consider it an in-store history lesson.
