Lunch Alert: Guisados Now Slinging Tacos in Echo Park

First the sign, then the tacos

Just when you thought the New Year couldn't get any better, Guisado's just announced that it is officially open today in Echo Park. Not that trekking to Boyle Heights for the carne con chile Colorado tacos was difficult, but for anyone west of Downtown t just gotthat much easier. The De La Torre family took over the former La Esquinita spot on Sunset for the taqueria, just east of Elysian Park Avenue.

Jonathan Gold is of course a fan of the rich meaty stews and braised meats served on soft hand-made tortillas, the fiery habanero chile salsa and the aguas frescas, and our Zagat surveyors give it a whopping 25 score for food. It's pretty cool that nearby Taco Zone has tables outside of the truck, which makes eating the street food that much easier, but this brings Echo Park tacos to a whole other level. The restaurant will be open until 10 PM nightly, and if you want to celebrate with a mariachi band, head over tonight around 6 PM.
