|Tasting Kitchen's hot buttered rum...mmmm|
It doesn't have to be National Peking Duck Day to want to enjoy the the Peking duck dinner at WP24 - a whole gorgeous golden duck with bao buns, hoisin sauce, scallions and the fixings - but to honor the holiday on Friday, if you order the duck, you get a giant chocolate goose egg on the house for dessert. The duck dinner is $80 for three courses, $110 for four courses. Or you can order it a la carte on Friday only for $80 (900 W. Olympic Blvd.; 213-743-8824).
It's National Hot Buttered Rum day today, which means, yes, wait until the sun goes down and go find one. Or just drink one now. We found a great one by barman Daniel Warrilow at Son of a Gun; at Drago Centro, the Soul of Mayahuel is made with brown butter foam and tequila (put brown butter on anything and we're there); and El Cid's Hot and Creamy Sailor features with Laura Ann's Jams pumpkin butter. All three and more are in our hot drinks guide. What's not: since it's always cold in Venice, the new hot buttered rum at the Tasting Kitchen is vital.
