Fires and Flood Close Three Restaurants

First two fires and then one flood, what comes next? Locust? It has been an unfortunate week for restaurants in Chicago. Over the weekend, a fire broke out under the floorboards of Dragon Ranch, the recently opened BBQ joint from the Rockit family. No one was injured, but the restaurant is closed until the damage is repaired.

Another fire destroyed plans for a second location of the Buena Park coffee shop, Dollop. The new shop would have brought Metropolis coffee, Hoosier Mama pies and Southport Grocery croissants to Streeterville, according to Chicagoist. The fire, which occurred during the construction phase of the new space, has postponed the opening indefinitely.

The third, and hopefully final, restaurant to be struck by this string of bad luck is Dos Diablos in River North. According to Eater, the morning shift arrived to find it raining on the inside of the restaurant. Not good. The salon above flooded the night before, and by the time the fire apartment arrive to shut off the water the dining room was filled with eight-inches of water. It too will close until further notice.
