The stretch of the East Village known as Indian row has plenty of solid restaurants, but it feels like many of them haven't changed a thing since the mid to late '90s. The owners of Indian favorite Chola are trying to freshen the strip up with the debut of Malai Marke, a casual new option that will feature kebabs from a tandoor oven and dishes from Goa (which features Portuguese influences) and specialties from the Northern region of Punjab.
Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options are available, and the fare can be enjoyed with a draft beer list that includes Radeberger and Kingfisher and a number of wines are available by the glass.
