Best Thing We Ate This Week: Pastrami Slider at City Tap House

Pastrami is one of the best things that can happen to beef, and burgers are definitely another. The two come together in a tasty marriage at West Philly’s City Tap House, but this is no slapped-together pairing. The wee sandwiches are serious flavor bombs, thanks to plump beef patties that have pastrami spices mixed right into the meat.

The mini burger hybrid is topped with Lancaster County baby Swiss, crunchy kraut and a Russian-style dressing and served between mini pieces of marbled rye toast. It’s like a Reuben gone gastropub, in the best way. Make sure to order a beer from one of the more than 50 taps to wash it down (try a Yards Love Stout), because these spices are strong ($14; 215-662-0105).
