Best Thing We Ate Last Night: Salvation Taco's Entire Menu

We didn't mean for it to be taco week here on the Zagat blog, that's just how it turned out. Last night we hit up April Bloomfield and Ken Friedman's taqueria Salvation Taco in the Pod 39 Hotel and came away impressed (though, the spicy micheladas may have influenced our thinking a bit).

A ceviche appetizer was fresh and full of acid, and the guacamole and chips were perfectly servicable, but the real magic here is in the taco selection. We had trouble choosing, so we just ordered all of them. There are about seven options on the menu, and most are priced at $3 (though one or two go as high as $5), making this one of the rare places where saying "one of everything, please" is actually affordable.

It's hard to sing the praises of one. The spicy pork was a huge hit, as was the steak and the lamb. This is Bloomfield-world, after all - even though there are meatless options on the list, if you're only going to have a few, you should get in touch with your inner carnivore and go crazy.

If you're looking for another reason to make the trek to this somewhat random area of town, the joint just launched a daily happy hour, where you can get three al pastor tacos and a can of Modelo for $10. That's available at the bar from 5:30 to 7 PM on weekdays.
