Baby Cow Statue Stolen From Hope’s Cookies... Again

If you’re a college student, there’s not much more tempting than a baby cow statue. At least, that’s the way recent events make it seem. This morning, Baby Moo was abducted from its regular perch next to Mama Moo outside Hope’s Cookies in Rosemont. A similar theft occurred back in 2009, and the black-and-white figure was subsequently found in the basement of a Temple University frat house.

After recovering the longtime landmark once, the bakery was not ready to give up on Baby Moo so easily. “Mama Moo is inconsolable and wants her baby back," said owner Herb Spivak, adding "We are offering a $500 reward for the safe return of the calf, no questions asked." Turns out the cash wasn’t needed, because it’s really hard to stash a cow statue in your back pocket (even a baby one).

Eagle-eyed Public Safety staff at Villanova University glimpsed a student exiting a taxi with the statue in tow. Realizing the game was up, the kid fled the scene, and Baby Moo was scooped up to the safety of the college security offices. Now you can once again get your fresh-baked Hope’s Cookies under the serene gaze of a reunited mother and calf. Milk not included.
