Trending for 2013: Duck Eggs, "Wacky Ramen" and Gwyneth Paltrow

Last week we wrapped up 2012's food-world winners and losers, and now it's time to look ahead to 2013. We've scoured the blogs and beyond to present this roundup of the roundups, featuring some newcomers, and favorites that are sticking around. The powers-that-be at Bon Appetit zero in on duck eggs, Dungeness crab and grind-your own flour. Also big at BA HQ: Fernet Branca and jerry-rigged Sodastreams that let you fizz your booze (two words: fun office).

Meanwhile, over at Eatocracy, Kate Krader turns our attention to "wacky ramen" (like the mazto-balled version at Dassara Ramen) and "genius tacos," including the ones being dished up by April Bloomfield at Salvation Taco. Looking at NYC, New York's Adam Platt predicts that sandwiches will stay hot, hot, hot, and Serious Eats hopes for "less meat, more vegetables." We also have to predict that GOOP-ster Gwyneth Paltrow isn't going anywhere: As Eater notes, she's set to release a new cookbook, It's All Good: Delicious, Easy Recipes That Will Make You Look Good and Feel Great, featuring things like huevos rancheros and "power brownies." Which, come to think of it, are probably two more trends.
