The Best Thing We Ate This Weekend: Sunday Supper at Maialino

On a rainy Sunday night, we were struck by a deep desire for comforting pasta, and the warming lights of Danny Meyer's Maialino provided just the Winter-blues antidote that we needed. Each Sunday, the restaurant offers a $55 tasting menu that includes four pasta courses and a dessert, with wine pairings available for an additional $30. It's a pretty awesome deal, considering two glasses of vino would normally cost you about the same and the pastas can run around $18-$20 a plate.

It's impossible to decide which was our favorite, the flaked cod mixed in with the trenette was light and flavorful, and when an egg yolk burst forth from the ricotta raviolo, well, we nearly started to weep. If you're looking for a more affordable introduction to this Northern Italian gem, Sunday is your night. Yeah, we've been there before, but on the next snowy night, we're gonna have problems staying away.
