The Best Thing We Ate This Weekend: Enchiladas Verdes at Mesa Coyoacan

When three Zagat staffers spontaneously end up at the same restaurant totally independently at three different times of day, you know the joint has gotta be good. Case in point - Mesa Coyoacan - a go-to spot for top-notch Mexican and cocktails in E. Williamsburg. We dined there this weekend and sampled among other dishes the shrimp ceviche, the addictive corn esquites and for our main, we went straight for the enchiladas verdes. The eatery does one of the best versions of the dish that we've had in the city with a spicy and tart tomatillo sauce that foils the creamy Oaxaca cheese and crema fresca. Here's an insider tip: hit up the joint on a Sunday or Monday night when the madding hipster-ish crowds are at a minimum. The narrow space gets packed very quickly most every other night of the week.
