The restaurant in the new InterContinental Hotel just off Parliament Square is inspired by the great American barbecues of the Deep South of Tennessee. Classic Southern dishes like 24 hour smoked baby back ribs, pulled lamb shoulder and treacle marinated roasted beef brisket are made using British produce. Don't get distracted by the politically themed decor.
The menu at Chelsea's posh junk food restaurant has Southern influences that can be seen in the sticky pork and beef ribs, beef brisket and fried chicken. From January they are launching a Blues Brunch - a weekly brunch menu served with live music and entertainment in particular jazz, blues and rock from Southern US.
For street side Southern food track down Anna Mae's food truck. Her mac 'n' cheese with toppings are what most people are queuing for but other comforting dishes like the pulled pork sandwich with home-made BBQ sauce and sesame slaw are also spot on.
The new soul food joint from in Chiswick is the brainchild of the boys behind Outsider Tart. Stop by to sample good old-fashioned comfort food from the deep South including pulled pork, Buffalo wings with blue cheese dressing, slow cooked Texas brisket. The don't launch officially until next year so except a reduced menu for now.
