Smashburger brought its national self to Thousand Oaks this past summer, and is now gearing up to open in Culver City at the end of this month. The growing chain is known for it's Angus beef burgers that are smashed on the grill for cooking with all sorts of toppings, but also chicken sandwiches, hot dogs, salads and veggie frites.
Now you don't have to drive so far to try the Fusion Burger, Smashburger's location-specific ode to Southern California, a beef patty topped with crispy wontons, fried egg, cilantro, cucumber, lettuce, tomato and ginger dressing on a bun dotted with black and white sesame seeds. Talk about LA food culture in one bite, or what someone from Denver might think LA tastes like on a bun. With Five Guys at the Westfield Fox Hills mall nearby, not to mention Father's Office, Ford's and the myriad gastropubs around Culver City, this is obviously another burger vortex in the works. Look for the debut on December 30 (10704 Venice Blvd.)
