Pair a Sketch burger with  St. Benjamin beer this Tuesday
If you’ve been craving a great cheesesteak, now’s the time to give NoLibs’ Del Rossi’s a try. Owners Michael and David Frank have recruited Nicky “Slice” to work the grill. The 25-year Geno’s veteran has been lured north and is now slinging fresh-sliced beef onto hoagie rolls with plenty of cheese and (if you like) fried onions at the newly launched sandwich stop. Just-opened Kensington nanobrewery St. Benjamin Brewing Co. is bringing two of its signature ales to Fishtown’s Sketch, where the suds will be paired with burgers and other eats. Also look for dishes made with beer, such as sticky toffee pudding with St. Benjamin Baltic Porter in the mix. Everything is à la carte and the brewers will be on hand to chat from 6-8 PM (215-634-3466).

If drinking while wearing a Santa hat has been on your wishlist, head to East Passyunk Avenue from 5:30-10 PM and pay a $5 registration fee to get your head-topper plus access to deals from dozens of restaurants and bars. Spots like Adobe Cafe, Stogie Joe’s, Paradiso and Cantina Los Caballitos will be offering $3 craft beer, $4 cocktails and $5 special bites for anyone participating in the Spirits & Suds with Santa crawl. NoBL, that oddly-named offshoot of Lansdowne’s Sycamore, was open just five months before it closed to retool. This week the BYO will reopen, and though it will be missing chef Sam Jacobson in the kitchen, will serve a weekly-changing menu of mezze dishes according to The Insider, plus a selection of “everyday entrees” like spaghetti and mussels. Hours this time around will be 6-10 PM, Wednesday-Sunday (484-461-2689).

Boutique South Philly bottle shop Brew (which shares a space with Ultimo Coffee) is hosting Baltimore’s The Brewer’s Art for a free tasting of the brewpub’s beer. Head to Newbold from 5-7 PM for complimentary samples of Resurrection Ale, and possibly even a taste of seasonally appropriate St. Festivus (215-339-5177).

We mentioned it briefly in our Two Truths and a Lie post, but don’t forget about your chance to have drinks with our very own Iron Chef. Jose Garces will be holding it down at Chifa from 4-6 PM and giving out complimentary appetizers while signing copies of The Latin Road Home. The cookbook is available for $35, and cocktails will be flowing on a pay-as-you-go basis (215-925-5555).

South Street’s Brauhaus Schmitz is giving you an opportunity to pair that perfect adult holiday happening - a beer-and-wine-happy brunch - with something the little ones will love.
